Explosions in the Sky- First Breath After Coma

wow!

so this just totally sank in.

When we live for the things of the world, we inwardly seek approval from those who do the same…

but when we lay our own desires down and begin to live for Christ, we seek approval from Him.

This is totally where we need to be! And trying to win approval from men leads to an uprooted tree, dead leaves, rotting bark- it does nothing for us in any way.

Galatians 1: 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Paul was more specifically referring to those warping the gospel to win the approval of men… and how we should not do that because then it’s not the gospel!

But I thought his final statement in the passage could apply here… we are servants of Christ… alone.

Praise God for this sweet revelation.

For me, it reminds me that if I’m serving God and another believer disagrees with what I believe (i.e.- a decision), the next action can’t come from trying to make that person happy… it has to come from my desire to honor, please and serve God. I can’t serve them both, so I’m choosing Papa in the sky.
